Are humans more intellectually accomplished than elves? Who would reach the industrial revolution first? What about modern science?

Plane Shift

No.80681751 ViewReplyOriginalReport
What pre-arena MTG set deserves a plane shift supplement, and why isn't it Homelands?

Bored and thinking of writing a homebrew.

Clueless Retards Edition

>GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles with level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
>Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, even switching genres within a single game.

Previous Thread >>80528856

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by those who pay attention to file extensions.
A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial > GURPSgen. It tells you what books and articles you need for many common genres.

Thread question: How do you deal with the thousands of skills and their half a million defaults at the table?

Generic systems

No.80678190 ViewReplyOriginalReport
>Savage Worlds
>Cortex Prime

Even in this short list, a vast ocean of possibilities opens before you. Generic roleplaying systems can run basically any type of game you can wish for.
But how do they compare to a more laser-focused system that has been built for X from the ground up? For example, why run a high fantasy game in Savage Worlds when you could just play D&D (literally any edition, either a custom setting or an official one)?
I'd like to think that most of them feature systems and mechanics that are hard to beat for specific niches (such as realism for GURPS or freeform for Fate) but well defined comparisons are hard to come by. They also heavily encourage homebrew content compared to setting-locked systems but then again, nobody is going to stop you from using homebrew in your games anyway.

Also: which ones are good, WHAT are they good for and what to avoid like the plague.

So, 'Martial Checks' are fucking trash, and this guy doesn't know how to run games right? He is an idiot.

Elf Thread

No.80633657 ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
Post art and discussion of elves.

Also, question, should elves have human skin tones or should they be purple, silver, red, gold, green, etc? Why or why not?

Personally I think both are fine, but I wanna hear some other opinions.

Thousands of the local elf lord's elite archers immediately appear from all directions and aim bows at your party, for entering their forest and crushing grass underfoot. Elves can tread on grass without crushing it.

Try casting anything and they all roll initiative separately and shoot you down. They have keen magic detection senses.

How does your party plead?

Camping with /awg/ -edition

>What is /awg/?
A thread to talk about minis and games which fall between the cracks, or peoples' homebrew wargames. The >>>/tg/hwg doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason), >>>/tg/gwsg handles GW's abandoned stepchildren, and the other threads are locked to very specific games. This thread isn't tied to a game, a publisher, or a genre, let's just talk about fun wargames.
Any scale, any genre, any company, any minis. Skirmishers welcome. Rules designers welcome.

>Examples of games that qualify
OnePageRules, Mighty Armies, Warmachine & Hordes, Dragon Rampant, Oathamark, Mortal Gods, Kings of War, Deadzone, Warpath, Frost/Stargrave, Hordes of the Things, Conquest, Songs of Blades and Heroes, Dark Age, Beyond the Gates of Antares. Malifaux and anything else that doesn't necessarily have a dedicated thread.
