I really dislike PF2's and D&D5e's restrictive class roles. I enjoyed 3.5's and PF1's modularness.

>9th comes out
>nucrons look like shit, play like shit and their fluff is even worse than the original nucrons that replaed the 3rd edition Necrons
>nobody playing them
>nobody buying them
>in all the media from white dwarf to crusade packs they pulled the breaks to go back to the plague wars era and the death guard are the focus again
>they even brought back all the 8th edition starter pack exclusive death guards
>only time pariah nexus was mentioned in the last year was a kill team box that flopped so bad they are starting the game from scratch
>necrons may as well not exist in the lore right now as the focus is the death guard invasion of the ultima sector
>magazines like imperium solely exist to dump the massive amounts of nucron stock that isn't shifting even when thrown in with primaris paypig fodder

So are Necrons in 9th edition being retconned out as the villains of the edition due to love customer interest?

Yokai - keeping it weird

No.80478788 ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
So I want to run a game about Yokai, and I don't want it to devolve into classic fantasy equivalence like all the games publishers half-ass. You know, Oni = Orcs, Gaki = Goblins etc.

Any tips on keeping things off-beat, mystic and weird? I was thinking of running in a system where investigation and mental fortitude/courage are more important than killing everything, like Call of Cthulu. Obviously the charmer above will make a guest appearance.

So, is this game worth it? Would it be a good game to convert 5e only players into trying something new? How does it compare to 5e and PF1?

polynesian world

No.80590631 ViewReplyOriginalReport
What if during the height of the polynesian expansion some polynesian groups were transported through a portal to another world a world only consisting of islands? There are no other humans in this world and no island is bigger than New Zealand's North Island. The polynesian brought with then all the plants and cattle they had. How technologically advanced could they become?

Most of the time people complain about oversized weapons. But is this mace too small? Surely it couldn't do any real damage.

Witch/Hag Lore Thread

No.80599468 ViewReplyOriginalReport
>Alternate Title: "tfw you kill a thread" Edition
Discuss your setting's lore on witches and hags, or the lore of those in your favorite setting. How do you hate them to be handled? Do you just hate witches? Are you a misogynist?
Tell us, Anons.

Storythread: 'after a long rest all your writing slots are restored'-edition. We've had almost a week off, but it's the second Friday again so let's get back into this.

This is a thread for creative writing of /tg/-related fiction (so epic campaign greentexts and other non-fiction go elsewhere). If you have /tg/ related stories to post, post them here, and hopefully some kind anon will give you feedback. Or at least acknowledge that someone did actually read it, which let's face it is what writefags really want.

What counts as /tg/-related? Anything someone could plausibly use in a campaign (which means basically anything if you have enough imagination).

If you don't have a story ready then I and other anons will be posting pictures throughout the thread for you to test your writing skills on. This is, more or less, a world-building and character-building exercise: two vital skills for playing roleplaying games. If you don't have any pics to post, you could try posting an idea for a setting or a character, and maybe someone will be willing to write a story using it.

Remember that writefags love to have feedback on their work. Writing takes a long time, especially stories that go over several posts, and it can be really depressing when no one even seems to read it (and the writer won't know you read it unless you leave a comment).

And since writing takes a long time remember to keep the thread bumped. Pics are good, feedback is better.

There is a discord for writers:

The previous thread can still be found in the archive here
if you have any comments about the stories posted there

Don't forget to check out past stories on our wiki page:
